A couple used to living in a large converted barn sought the opportunity to down size by converting adjacent former cow barns that had previously been converted decades ago as separate self contained rental into a two bedroom residential unit to cater for their retirement years.
A previous addition forming a porch has been removed and replaced with a light filled entrance vestibule which doubles as an artists studio. Rustic elements have been salvaged and incorporated within the conversion. Reclaimed stone and slate have been chosen in order to satisfactorily blend in with the existing materials.
Far reaching and picture views have been framed within the extended area. The external treatment is in keeping with the material vernacular however the white interior treatment of the internal spaces gives a crispiness to interior composition.
