green lane

Originally the property was a 70's bungalow that had been previously extended to the rear in the 80's in a manner sympathetic to the style of the original dwelling.
The original clients, a TV Producer and Art Gallery owner, wished to transform the house into a modern family home on a limited budget.
Fundamentally the modified form retains most of the main external wall structures and footprint yet the internal layout and external aesthetic have been altered to form open plan family areas. The guest wing/music studio (formerly a two car garage) is connected to the main house via a glazed link.
The removal of the original pitched roof profile allowed the introduction of a number of glazed roof lanterns which provide a positive introduction of daylight into the internal spaces and houses concealed solar panels.
Re-orientation of the internal room layout allowed the principle living accommodation to look out and have access to the private rear garden areas.
The finished project sits comfortably between the existing two storey properties of a more traditional manner either side and provides a positive contribution to the varying architectural styles within the area.
Subsequent owners requested vertical timber ladding to streetscape which adds a further individual flavour.
